More than half of New Zealand showed their commitment to the future of the planet by taking part in WWF’s Earth Hour™ 2009 according to recent survey results. The survey, by Colmar Brunton, found that 51% of New Zealanders aged over 18 took part in the global WWF initiative by turning off lights and/or non-essential appliances for one hour on Saturday 28 March.
In Wanaka, Aurora Energy confirmed to Sustainable Wanaka that a 10% reduction in energy was made for the hour. This was helped by 70% of businesses taking part with most bars doing something to reduce their energy during the evening.
Well done everyone!
