Next Friday, Team Green students will organise a convoy leaving college at 3.20pm to walk down to the community gathering at the Dinosaur Park.
Students, parents and siblings are invited to join us in front of the college after class.
The latest analysis shows that if we act now, we can reduce carbon emissions within 12 years and hold the increase in global average temperatures to 1.5 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels, which effectively mitigate climate change.
We are in a climate emergency. Next week, the United Nations leaders are meeting to act on climate change. Following the call of Greta Thunberg, the 16-year-old Swedish environmental activist, young and older people are taking action all over the world to raise awareness and prompt urgent action for climate. Solutions exist, we simply need to make the decision to implement them now, at every level, individuals, organisations and businesses, local councils, governments and international institutions.
Team Green has created a Pledge Tree. Come to the library to write what you are doing NOW to make a change and we’ll carry it down to the Dinosaur Park on Friday 27th September.
You can also make a poster and bring it to the gathering.
We encourage you to write a letter to the local Council, the Prime Minister or the Ministers you choose. A template and a list of names and email addresses are available via your teachers.
As Greta says, “No One Is Too Small to Make a Difference”! So take action now!
